Villages of Paros worth slowing down for

Hilltop Lefkes, harbour-side Naoussa, Marpissa and Prodromos — a gentle road trip through the island’s most beautiful villages.

Lefkes

Paros’s former capital sits high in the green heart of the island. Narrow lanes, flowering courtyards and the twin-towered church of Agia Triada make it a delight to explore — and the cobbled Byzantine path leads downhill from here to Prodromos.

Naoussa

Once a quiet fishing village, Naoussa is now the island’s most fashionable spot, yet its harbour with the ruined Venetian fortress keeps all its charm.

Marpissa & Prodromos

On the east side, these villages are wonderfully authentic. Climb to the monastery of Agios Antonios above Marpissa for sweeping views of the coast and Naxos.

Antiparos

Technically a separate island, Antiparos is a short ferry from Pounda. Its relaxed main village and impressive cave make a perfect day trip.

Stay three minutes from Parikia, in peaceful Kakapetra.
