The beaches of Paros, from lively to secret

Sandy coves near Parikia, sculpted granite at Kolymbithres and windsurfing at Golden Beach — our pick of the island’s shoreline.

One of the joys of Paros is its variety of beaches — and the fact that, depending on the wind, there is almost always a sheltered one. Ask us each morning and we will tell you where to go.

Close to home

Several beaches lie within easy reach of Kakapetra and Parikia, including Livadia on the north side of the bay and, across the water, Krios and Martselo, reached by car or by the small boat from Parikia harbour. They are perfect for a swim before lunch.

Kolymbithres

On Naoussa bay, smooth granite boulders shaped by wind and water create a series of tiny natural pools. Arrive early in summer to find your own rock.

Golden Beach & Pounda

On the southeast coast, Golden Beach (Chrysi Akti) is a long stretch of golden sand and a world-class windsurfing spot. Pounda on the west coast is the kitesurfing centre — and the port for the short ferry to Antiparos.

Santa Maria & Lageri

Near Naoussa, Santa Maria offers crystal water and beach bars, while Lageri is quieter and wilder, reached by a short walk over the dunes.

P.R.O.K.O.S. tips

  • Bring water shoes for the rocky coves
  • Check the meltemi forecast — north-facing beaches are calmer on still days
  • Beach towels are provided in every residence

Stay three minutes from Parikia, in peaceful Kakapetra.
